Oral historians work closely with archivists who do the tireless work of preserving materials and providing public access long term. But archives take many forms, from grand libraries with professional staff to ad hoc networks of friends with a plan to share and preserve records. The work of archiving speaks to how has power, and who claims power, to craft history and inform the public. Oral historians must mindfully engage in partnerships with archivists, and remain open to many forms of archiving.
