ABOUT BLACK SIREN RADIO
Djs inhabiting musical radio spaces, radical historians, future-makers cultivating time; reckoning with spin samples and 808s referencing what was, what is, and what will come to be, we reverent radio djs have thrust upon us the duty to educate and remake; to imagine future sound by way of summoning our aural ancestors.
Inspired by WKCR’s 1990 era Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Show launching the careers of underground hip hop artists Jay-Z, Nas and Christopher Wallace, Black Siren Radio births the Emerging Artist Series for young musicians battling the twin pandemics of COVID-19 and police-state murders to offer a place that understands their art as essential. With the support of the academy and the terrestrial possibilities of radio, we pass the mic to the next generation of the underground.
