Marty Bearman - Incite at Columbia University

In 2023, Peter Bearman became aware of a dog in Virginia who was in need of a new home. Working off a few pictures and a grainy, shaky video, our team weighed in on whether Marty would be a good fit for our team.

On the one hand, he was untrained, had little office experience, and had never lived in a big city. On the other hand, he had a very unusual gait that we all found unsettling and charming. Peter arranged for his transfer to New York City. Marty never thought he’d work a 9-5, but with kind coworkers and frequent trips to Riverside Park, he’s gotten very comfortable.

At times too comfortable—like when he ate Mary Marshall’s lunch. Marty’s biggest human peeve is when he falls asleep during a meeting and we leave the room without remembering to wake him up. His favorite thing to do at work is quality inspect the lunches of his colleagues.
